Summary
Three new confirmed cases of Lassa fever, including a healthcare official and two new deaths, have been reported in Ondo State according to the latest Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) report.

Three new confirmed cases of Lassa fever, including a healthcare official and two new deaths, have been reported in Ondo State according to the latest Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) report.

The NCDC, in its Situation Report on the disease on Week 42 (21st October 2018), confirmed that one new health worker and two other persons have been infected in Ondo State.

Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 41 health workers have been infected across seven different states of the country, Ebonyi (16), Edo(15), Ondo (5), Kogi (2), Nasarawa (1), Taraba (1), and Abia (1) with 10 recorded deaths in Ebonyi (5), Kogi (1), Abia (1), Ondo (2) and Edo (1).

The two new deaths from the disease in Ondo make up 139 deaths in confirmed cases and 16 in probable cases that have been recorded since the onset of the outbreak of the disease in 2018, with case fatality in confirmed cases is now standing at 25.8%.

Meanwhile, the Lassa fever national multi-partner, multi-agency Technical Working Group (TWG) continues to oversee response activities are different levels.
