10 people have been confirmed dead as a result of a recent cholera outbreak in Niger State North-Central Nigeria.
While speaking to reporters at his office in the state capital on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Health in the State, Dr Mustapha Jibrin, confirmed the figure and gave more insight into the circumstances surrounding the outbreak of the disease.
He disclosed that a total of 120 incidences have been recorded in four Local Government Areas (LGA) of Lavun, Bida, Katcha, and Gbako.
Dr Jibrin also said that the Rapid Response Team in the State has been activated while UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other international health bodies are partnering with the government of the state to help curb the outbreak.
He, however, assured the people that the government has put measures in place to bring the situation under control and also prevent the disease from spreading to other states.
